Effects of surface texture deterioration and wet surface conditions on asphalt runway skid resistance

The friction force for aircraft landing is mainly provided by the texture of runway surfaces. mechanism underlying generation energy dissipation tire rubber materials during random excitation induced asperities. However, surface deteriorated cyclic loading and environmental effects service life a runway, leading to loss braking extension distance. Additionally, when an lands on wet at high velocity, hydrodynamic causes tires detach from surface, which risky may lead control excursion. Worn-out surfaces along with conditions increase risk poor landing. Accordingly, this study investigated three types asphalt runways (SMA-13, AC-13, OGFC-13). Surface deterioration was simulated using wear algorithm. Kinematic models were established based viscoelastic property materials, power spectrum density, statistics textures.
